Report to                      :       Chief Engineering Technician

 PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

 Ensure the proper, reliable, and efficient operation of NamPower’s backbone data transmission network by providing dedicated technical support for the installation, commissioning,     maintenance, troubleshooting, and fault-finding of all network components.

 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Perform physical installation of telecommunication equipment and support equipment for telecommunication systems

• Operate a personal computer with industry-standard software on it
• Perform manual labour required to set up telecommunication and support equipment
• Plan and unplan travel and work at sites
• Perform fault-finding on telecommunication and electric systems

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:

• Diploma/certificate in Telecommunication or Electronic Engineering (NQF level 6)
• A minimum of three (3) years full time, practical and hands-on experience in a related technical environment
• Valid code B driver’s license

SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES:

• Knowledge of data transmission principles
• Ability to perform fault-finding on telecommunication and electric systems
• Strong planning and scheduling skills
• Good interpersonal skills
